“The Greek word ‘Proxona’ translates to ‘Drive’ in English. To push forward (our industry, our business, ourselves), ambition, progress, advancement, to reach a destination (metaphorically).
When we first met the Referit team, we immediately found a common connection. Our collective leaders share a big picture mentality with attainable milestones – the strategic plan to achieve our goals. These goals that we have set, for ourselves and our businesses, are ambitious. They require foresight, hard work, perseverance, and most importantly: Drive.
As we sat around the conference room table in Dordrecht, Netherlands, we had a small list of new business names to expedite our selection process. Reviewing them, one stood out to us all. Unitedly, we agreed. We felt Proxona was the choice. We would be known as Proxona.
Exiting the room for a lunch break, new name swirling around our thoughts, Aad (I believe it was Aad Groen) spoke up and asked, “Did anyone actually see if the word means anything? Does this word, Proxona, translate into something in another language?” None of us knew. I hadn’t taken the time to fully dive into what Proxona meant or if it meant anything at all.
We quickly looked up the word – it’s meaning, translations, trademarks, existing companies, etc. That was the moment we knew Proxona was the right choice. It was fate. The Greek word ‘Proxona’ translates to ‘Drive’ in English. To push forward, ambition, progress, advancement, to reach a destination. It was the very reason that we were all sitting in that office on that particular day.”
